Objection to Coles proposed development for a public plaza over Grosvenor Lane, new supermarket and residential building as part of the above DA 258/23:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I write in relation to  the above planning application. I have examined the plans and I know the site well. I wish to object strongly to the development of the Coles supermarket for the following reasons:

Below we have listed the key issues expressed by the community to consider including in an obje
ction. Remember to include more than one issue to make your view be counted.

  • Public land should not be transferred to Coles or luxury apartment owners in any form.

  • Council should ensure Neutral Bay Village retailers can survive throughout construction and make changes to what Coles is proposing so we can continue to shop and support them.

  • The height of the residential tower should not be higher than the surrounding buildings, this is out of place for the Village aesthetic of Neutral Bay.

  • If the Neutral Bay Village car park is only under a supermarket, the Neutral Bay Village, including small businesses, will lose its current convenience and accessibility.

  • The final plaza design must have street-level parking for customers to support Village retailers after construction.

  • More details are needed on the plaza design. Level changes throughout the plaza need to be reduced.

  • Support Neutral Bay Village small businesses who will suffer without their customers being able to park closely to their stores.

  • Up to four years of construction is a big concern, more controls are needed to ensure the area and its small businesses are not forever changed and impacted.

  • Traffic congestion and parking issues with construction workers taking up parking.  There will be no parking at both supermarkets in the area, they will both be under construction and there will be a large population of workers parking, how will this work for the community and the small businesses?
